Golden Temple natural food company announces "Sharing Food, Awakening Goodness," a fundraising program that encourages local businesses to help eliminate hunger. Businesses can participate in several ways, including food drives, fundraisers and sponsorship opportunities. The program will run through June.
The program kickoff event, Breakfast for Dinner, will feature cereal, yogurt and other food items donated by Golden Temple, Springfield Creamery and Umpqua Dairy. The free event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Petersen Barn, 870 Berntzen Road.
Area families may bring an item to donate to FOOD for Lane County. Children can wear their favorite pajamas. There will be crafts, songs, stories and appearances by Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Special guests include Mayor Kitty Piercy; Kartar Khalsa, chief executive officer of Golden Temple; and Denise Griewisch, executive director of FOOD for Lane County.
